Safeguarding God's Children Classes

Safeguarding Gods ChildrenIf you are a keyholder for either the church or parish hall, the diocese requires that you complete the Safeguarding God's Children class.  We are offering two sessions at Faith, and you can choose either one to satisfy the requirement.  The first is Saturday June 1 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, and the second is Monday June 10th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Those folks on this list that are keyholders have a requirement to attend.  The rest are on the list because you have children or grandchildren and this workshop would be valuable, but not required of you.  I strongly encourage you to consider taking this workshop.  I do not have the Batstone's email, so if someone does, please pass this along.
We all think about keeping our children safe, yet unfortunately because of child abuse in our churches and elsewhere in society, it's important to step back and take a close look at the characteristics of those who abuse and what to do if abuse is suspected.  That is what Safeguarding God's Children addresses.  If you are able to attend, please let me know by May 25th.  I need to make sure there are enough materials available.
By the way, if you've previously taken this course, please let me know.  We are trying to compile a list of everyone who has been certified.  As we start to develop programs for children and families, the diocese has a two person policy to be with the children during ministries and both must have completed a Safeguarding course.
Blessings to all,
Deb
