Capital Campaign Update Senior Warden

September 3, 2021

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Faith:

In July I posted a letter on the Faith Episcopal website and included it in the Weekly Blast telling you that we were launching a Capital Fundraising Campaign to cover the costs of needed repairs at church. As you know we accomplished many projects during year 2020 and we are grateful to all the members and supporters of Faith Episcopal who generously donated their time, work, and money. But our church buildings have additional needs that need to be addressed in the near future. So far, we have raised over $4,000 which is half of what we need to repair the roof over the organ. Be assured that Mother Laura, the Bishop Committee members, and myself are also searching for grants and other funding sources to help with the repairs. Below is a list of repairs listed in order of priority:

Church Roof: Our primary concern is the church roof. As many of you may be aware, the church roof over the organ has a soft spot that needs to be repaired. Jackson Foster and Frank Toth were able to place a tarp over the area as a temporary fix. We will need to replace that portion of the roof as soon as possible. The estimated cost for this fix is $6,000.

Parish Hall Electrical: While having various projects worked on this past year, it has been brought to our attention that the wiring under the parish hall needs repair and upgrades. The estimated cost is between $1,000 to $5,000.

Parish Hall Lights: The lights in the parish need replacing with fixtures that provide better, more flexible lighting. The estimated cost of that work is $1,500 - $2,000.

Moving the water shutoff: Our current water shutoff valve for the parish hall is in the crawl space. In case of a water emergency, the shutoff is not easily or quickly accessible. Our hope is to have a plumber reroute the water shutoff to somewhere within the parish hall.

Parish Hall Attic Venting: During our recent heat wave the temperatures got so hot in the parish attic to set off the fire alarm heat detectors. We are looking at installing additional vents and fans and the cost of this upgrade is undetermined.

Our overall goal is raise $20,000 initially. And we know that as our building age there will be additional repairs and projects. I hope you will consider a gift to help achieve our goal. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas you might have regarding the capital funding campaign. If you are able to contribute to the capital campaign, please indicate on your check or envelop that it is a capital campaign donation.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Kay Rawlings, Senior Warden
